Ever sat and thought about This love of God towards us? Oh, sorry, ever sat back to think just why Christ died for us? He also tells us that there is no greater love than this, one to lay down their lives for friends.
The truth is that when we believe in Christ and in His death and resurrection, and confess this, then we are saved. Paul also writes to the Ephesians and tells them that we are saved, not by good works which we did, but by grace through faith. There are many good people on the face of the earth that are naturally good. No one can lift up a finger against anything they have ever done, yet they are not saved or even close to believing in Christ. Why am I saying this. Many Christians have this mentality that, because they are living a life free of sin, they are pleasing God…That is true, God is pleased, but at the same time, grieved. Job 28:28 says, to shun sin is to gain understanding. God wants us to gain understanding, understanding of what kind of life He has called us to live, understanding of how great and majestic He is and that He wants us to show these attributes to all creation. He wants us to reveal Him to creation, to conform to His image and to ultimately have dominion as He had in mind during creation.
The truth is, man was created in the image and likeness of God. The problem came in when man fell and this is why in Rom 3:18 we are told, “…we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God…..”. Remember God asking man where he was in the garden? That was God telling man I created you to be like me and to subdue the earth, but you have fell short of this ‘likeness’. We were created in the image and likeness of God, but we are born in the image and likeness of the fallen man (1st Adam, Genesis 5). Why Christ (the 2nd Adam) came, it was to reconcile man back to God and possibly help him go back to his ordained nature (Rom 8:29). We are on the pathway to becoming more and more like Christ when we get saved. The problem is, most Christians get saved and wait to go to heaven one sweet day. Nothing can be further from the truth than the idea that am born again and so all I wait for is to go heaven. Every pot the potter makes has a purpose, a task, a job to accomplish, and if we review genesis we’ll see that God created us for the earth. Getting saved gets us on the path to doing His will, His purpose; and only when this is accomplished are we taken from the earth. But, many have died and are dying without accomplishing their purposes and God is not the least pleased about this. Woe to us if we go to the Father and present nothing before Him after eating and drinking and partying here on earth!
Jesus said, He is the way, the truth and the life. Getting saved brings you to the way. On this way, we are supposed to seek for the truth which liberates us from the basic principles of the world. When we are liberated, we have a life in abundance. Remember John 10:10? “..The thief cometh but to ……. but I (Christ) came that they may have life and have it in abundance…”. The only way to gain understanding is to shun evil and that is why we are forgiven and probed to live pure lives.
You living in purity, remain pure…
You living in wickedness (a 50-50 kind of life), seek forgiveness and remain pure. “If we confess our sins in REPENTANCE and trust, He is faithful and just to forgive us and not only that, but also cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
GOD LOVES US
